2018 season finale for Canet and Lopez at Valencia

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 riders Aron Canet and Alonso Lopez take on the 19th and final round of the 2018 World Championship season this weekend, riding at the Valencia GP at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

The event is special for Aron Canet for many reasons: The track is close to his native Corbera, so an influx of fans is expected; he took his first Grand Prix pole position there as a rookie in 2016; and this weekend he will be riding for Estrella Galicia 0,0 for the final time. Last season, Canet started from the second row of the grid and finished the race ninth after a battle amongst a packed group. The Spaniard is currently sixth in the World Championship with 128 points.

Valencia is one of the few circuits this season that Alonso Lopez knows well ahead of time. The last two races of the Moto3 Junior World Championship in the FIM CEV Repsol were held at the track almost a year ago to the day, with the young Spanish talent achieving a fourth and second place in a fight with the series’ current World Champion Dennis Foggia and Jaume Masia. Now, after making considerable progress during the four flyaway rounds, Lopez hopes to take advantage of the experience he has gained this season at a circuit that he knows very well. He is currently 23rd in the overall standings with 36 points.

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders will have a first Free Practice session on Friday at 9am local time. The race is scheduled for Sunday at 11am.

ARÓN CANET - “The style I have been developing this year adapts very well to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo”
“I’m looking forward to riding at Valencia again, since it is a circuit that I know very well and at which I have a very positive feeling. The style I've been developing this year is very well suited to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo and I think I can have a good race to say goodbye to my team and thank them for all the work we've done together over this time."

ALONSO LÓPEZ - “Valencia is a circuit that I like a lot”
"I head to Valencia with great enthusiasm, since it is a circuit that I like very much and that I know very well. I started riding there at 10 years old, in youth series. After the work that we’ve done in recent weeks, I hope that my adaptation to the track with a World Championship level bike will be fast, and that we enjoy a good race to celebrate with the fans.”
